Expect a blend of candid moments and beautifully posed shots that reflect your family's unique personality 

Communication is key! This is why we strongly suggest (or require) a Planning Session. This way your photographer can chat with you about any ideas or visions you may have. Plus we can show you around the studio for to see any different sets that may work with your idea. Most importantly, once you and your photographer have figured out what look you're going for, we will talk over clothing recommendations with you. Tell them in advance if you want specific poses or plan to bring a pet for the shoot.

Getting everyone to look perfect in a family portrait may seem impossible, but not for us. Our experienced photographers know how to work with groups of multiple people (including children and pets!) in order to get the perfect shot.

Additionally, our family photography typically consists of group portraits, individual portraits, sibling portraits, and so on. If you have a specific grouping of people you'd like a portrait of - be sure to mention this to your photographer and we will be happy to oblige.

Don't worry about a rowdy little one or if you think a meltdown is coming, just keep the focus on your pose and smile so we can work our magic behind the lens! We've seen it all, there is absolutely no need to feel embarrassed or apologize - kids will be kids, and we know this. Our photographers have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves to keep a family session going smoothly. Just remember that things may not go perfectly (and that's okay) but you will still leave your session with the most gorgeous family portraits. 

• Keep your children on their normal nap and mealtime schedules the day of your session.

• Pack and/or lay out everything you need the evening before your session.

• Leave your home with ample time to arrive at the studio early for your session, we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your session time.

• Embrace the session with an open mind and genuine expectations. Our goal isn't to duplicate someone else's photos but to authentically capture YOUR family in all its uniqueness.

• Plan a big busy day (parties, playdates, doctor's appointments, etc) the day or morning before your session. Keep things as relaxed as possible for your children.

• Expect your little ones to act perfectly. Sometimes kids don't sit still, get distracted, or don't cooperate - but we know how to use this to our advantage and still get the most perfect shots!

• Yell at your family before your session. We know, it's overwhelming getting everyone prepared for their session and it may feel like nobody is listening. However, if you've been arguing, it's impossible to have fun during your session. Having fun and making memories with you family is what this is all about!

• Snacks, toys, and electronics usually cause more harm than good when used during a session. You child will most likely get more upset once it's been taken away. Let your photographer engage with your children and get genuine reactions from them. They will let you know if they need backup, but they're experts and usually have a trick or two up their sleeves.
